Megan is the Angel In Our Home

Fifteen years ago, our family was blessed to have an angel born into our home. Megan is turning 15 years old and she is the delight of our life. I would like to tell you her story and the story of our family. We are the Kenny and Maria Ankeny family, living in Albuquerque, New Mexico with our three children: Aaron, Brandon, and our Angel Megan.

Megan was born on Friday, August 13th, 1993. After a troubled pregnancy, Megan was born. She was born six weeks premature and was a mystery to all the doctors. Around the age of two years old she was diagnosed with a rare syndrome called Cardio-Facio-Cutaneous Syndrome. Megan was in the hospital most of the first year of life. Due to her rare syndrome Megan had developmental delays, failure to thrive, feeding issues, and heart abnormalities.

During the trying first year of Megan's life, I was forced to quit my job, because she required full time care. Between sleepless nights and doctors appointments my time and efforts were better spent caring for Megan and our boys. At this time we didn't have or know of any resources to help our family. Only after quiting my job, did we qualified for some nursing care for Megan.
To be continued.......
